Jailbreak PS3 with iPhone 2G or 3G

It’s funny that i have never posted an easiest way on how to jailbreak your PS3 console with iPhones even though i had posted some news and “so hard to understand” tutorial. To be honest, that “so hard to understand tutorial”, i haven’t tried it yet, because i jailbreak my PS3 console with this method. So, let me present you an easiest way to install PSFreedom, the modded version of PSGroove to your iPhone 2G or 3G where we could now jailbreak the PS3 console without any hassle.

What do you need

PS3 console either FAT or Slim running 3.41 firmware version only. Newer, or old firmware will not work.
iPhone 2G or 3G jailbroken with firmware of iOS 3.1.2/4.0.0/4.0.1/4.0.2 (confirmed) Redsn0w or blackra1n (Spirit? No!)
A working iPhone USB cable that can be connected to your PC.
Download the iPhodroid pre-loaded with PSFreedom for iPhone 2G and iPhone 3G.

Done? Let the PS3 Jailbreak begins!

  • Unzip, plug iPhone into your computer’s USB, run iPhoDroid, click “Shoot!” – these zips contain the above binary distributions of psfreedom pre-loaded.
  • If you want to see the OpeniBoot screen (and be able to run the jailbreak) every time you turn on your phone, be sure to select “install” at the bottom of the OpeniBoot menu on your iPhone the first time you see it.
  • Select Android and wait for INIT repeatedly and it is ready to jailbreak now!
  • Make sure that you have plugged off your PS3. Then connect the USB cable between your iPhone to your PS3.
  • Turn on your PS3 by hitting the Power button after that quickly hit the eject button. You must done it as quickly as possible.
  • You can see that there are many lines keep repeating in your iPhone.
  • Now, this is the important part, when the line stop, pull out the USB cable as quickly as possible.
  • After that, your PS3 should boot now and there you go, your PS3 is now Jailbroken.
Tips: If you try to boot back into iOS and it shows the USB Plug icon (Recovery mode icon), use ‘Exit Recovery Mode’ in iPhoDroid to fix the problem and allow it to continue booting iOS.
